    Laptop Purchase Need Advice

I am in the market for a 14" or smaller laptop to be used for Khali Linux. I want to eventually start doing some penetration testing for practice then eventually for my work and want something light and portable. My work laptop doesn't have a very powerful graphics card from what I understand nvidia cuda cores are used to crunch numbers faster so I need something better then Intel HD. My personal laptop is a Lenovo Y500 but I do not wish to use it for this because of size, and would prefer to use a dedicated machine. I was looking at trying to get a used Alienware M11X. So I was wondering if there was anything someone could recommend for compatibility and my needs. Thanks

    1) What is your budget? Max $800 prefer $400-600

    2) What size notebook would you prefer?
    Ultraportable; 11" - 12” screen
    Thin and Light; 13" - 14" screen

    3) Where will you buying this notebook? U.S.A.

    4) Are there any brands that you prefer or any you really don't like?

    a. Like: Lenovo, Alienware
    b. Dislike: None

    5) Would you consider laptops that are refurbished/redistributed? Yes

    6) What are the primary tasks will you be performing with this notebook? Penetration testing, maybe gaming

    7) Will you be taking the notebook with you to different places, leaving it on your desk or both? Needs to be mobile

    8) Will you be playing games on your notebook? If so, please state which games or types of games? Possibly, but is a non-factor to primary use

    9) How many hours of battery life do you need? Minimum 3-4 Hours

    10) Would you prefer to see the notebooks you're considering before purchasing it or buying a notebook on-line without seeing it is OK? Buying on-line is ok

    11) What OS do you prefer? Windows (Windows 7 / 8), Mac OS, Linux, etc.) Needs high compatibility with Khali Linux

    Screen Specifics

    12) From the choices below, what screen resolution(s) would you prefer? Keep in mind screen size in conjunction with resolution will play a large role in overall viewing comfort level. Everyone is different. Some like really small text, while others like their text big and easy to read. Click here for Screen resolution information. No lower then 1366x768

    13) Do you want a Glossy/reflective screen or a Matte/non-glossy screen? Which ever works best in light.

    Build Quality and Design

    14) Are the notebook's looks and stylishness important to you? No

    15) When are you buying this laptop? Next month or 2

    16) How long do you want this laptop to last? A couple of years

    Notebook Components

    17) How much hard drive space do you need? Do you want a SSD drive? Doesn't matter, have an extra SSD I could put in it if need be

    18) Do you need an optical drive? If yes, a DVD Burner, Blu-ray Reader or Blu-Ray Burner? No

    cr-48 chromebook | eBay

Bout the same, but mines just about perfect. I can do like $110 if I just use a medium flat rate box and just give you the laptop and the charger and the stickers.

I suggest posting this on reddit, there's lots of people there who can help you.

Your budget is the right price for these type of laptops. I'm pretty sure there are a lot of lenovo ultrabooks/portable laptops that will suit you fine.

But for gaming, most of these highly portable laptops don't have powerful graphics cards. If you want to game while being portable, then that Alienware model seems like the best choice. Only problem is that it's expensive.
